TV-cold turkey?

OK. I am so jealous. I am jealous of my friend elgan's control over her boob tube. I am a powerless wimp of a mom, and I knwo that I am allowing my daughter to congeal her brain my exposing it to hours of tv daily. She has seen the same episodes of Dexter and ED, eddy and edward (or whatever) so manytimes that she can recite them!

So I want to take advantage of dH's absence (off to Thailand, sans moi!) next week to unplug the TV for a week. dH rather runs the household in evenings. A typical evening consists of dinner at 8 or thereafter (depending when he comes home), and thereafter plopping on the sofa and spending the rest of the evening with face in telly. Wednesday night is comedy night, so frm 8:30 to 10 we have "King of Queesn", "Raymond" etc. (usually I fall asleep about now). At 10 is Jay Leno, and I love hearing his monologue and of course on Wednesday we get "headlines" which is a blast!" Other evenings the fare is not as entertaining, so we can flip through Animal Planet, Disaster Channel, or some series. But invariably, that tube is working between 8 and 11 pm. That is the adult installment.

As far as dd goes, it is straight on when she comes home from school. Trying to LIMIT her time has proven impossible. I want to cold turkey her for a week!

I am totally frightened of her reaction. Am i a wimp or what?

I am talking myself into it, by reading this and this . And of course, tuning into the TV turnoff site.

This will be tough. I hope I am strong enough and determiened enought to see this through. I gues I need some hard convincing to know that it is a GOOD thing that i will be doing!
