How to be omnipotent

23 May 2006 at 8:27 a.m.

This entry, after a recess of over a month, is due to my amazing ability to cause miracles.

Observe.

For well over 2 months, I have had a nagging, awful pain in my left elbow. I figure it is tendonitis, or tennis elbow, or "bardot-pulling-on=her-leash" elbow, or whatever. Anyways, 3 days ago, I finally made an appointment to see my Dr., figuring to have her order some kind of therapy for me. Ta Da!!!! The pain dissappeared last night.

Not enough? OK....try this.
Bardot has been off her food lately, and although I suspected she had been a "bad girl" when she ran off, we did u/s and there are no puppies observable. So, it could be false pregnancy (very common). Or it could be something else. So today, I am supposed to bring in a stool sample for testing. Have I mentioned that, rain or shine, I MUST walk DoDo every morning for her morning "evacuation.". Ta Da!!!! Today she didn't do it. Unless she managed to poop while I was distracted watching a woodpecker in a tree, she didn't!

OK, that was the purpose of this entry. But if I'm already typing, I'll update recent events, for the few (very) people who actually read these missives.

1) Holland. We have booked July 9-16. I have to book one more Hotel (in Uttrecht). So far we have - 3 nights in Amsterdam, 2 nights in the Hague, one in Uttrecht (the one I still ahve to book) and the last night near the airport.

2) Garden. I spent 4000 shekels laying new grass - building up the level of the soil all over the grass area, which was as much as 15 cm lower than the level of the sidewalk, spreading good earth, and all sorts of chemicals, and then the gardener laid about 50sq m of sod. I watered faithfully, and the grass is gorgeous green and lush.
And I am very dissappointed. Because it is not FLAT!!!!! I observed and commented to the gardener, before he laid the sod, that "shoudn't you flatten out the dirt, like with a board?" and he assured me that it would be OK. But my grass is lumpy and I want to cry. Unfortunately. Two days after he laid it, he went away on vacation for a week, so I couldn't call him. I would have had him remove it all (bit by bit if necessary) and tamp down the dirt properly.

Now what do I do. I feel heartbroken.

I also have been SLOWLY redoing the garden area, along with plans to extend the cirular patio by adding on wooden decking. More later, and maybe even pictures.

3) Dogs. OK, with Bardot you are updated, more or less. Honey is continuing with her agility and with Search and Rescue training. I am looking also to see if there is any kind of "therapy dog" program in this country. She'd be a great therapy dog, in my opinion.

4) Drums. The drums have been purchased and are set up in the attic. Boy are they loud!!!! Ds is great on them! I have bought myself a "learn-to-play" book with accompanying CD, and have given myself two lessons. I find it incredibly difficult. Like chewing gum and walking and whistling and throwing a yoyo all at the same time.

But fun...can't deny that!

5) Teaching. I have discovered a GREAT way to get across the point of the "verb families" and the confusing concept of how "to be" is the infinitive for words such as "is, am, are, was, were" whereas "to dance" is the infinitive for "dance, dances, dancing" etc.
And also why most verbs need the auxiliary of "do/does/did" whereas the "to be" family doesn't. I see real progress with some students all of a sudden - both E1L and E2L. Maybe i'll write a book.

6) Physical fitness. The running in agility is getting easier for me, since I have started my running program, in which someone else, who shall not be mentioned...you KNOW who you are!!!.... is supposed to be challenging me with, and thus keeping me focused. However, said person would keep me better focused if I really thought that the challenge IS there. So, she-who-wants-to-fit-into-a-teeny-tiny-gorgeous-dress, take note!!!!!!
I'd really like to work more on my "six pack" (now that's a laugh) but somehow don't manage enough pilates on my own. Now there's a shocker!

7) House. Never ending never ending struggle...keeping up with the housework. Which I SHOULD be doing now....so I am signing off here and getting to it.
