OUCH and ZONK

02 August 2006 at 8:17 a.m.

OUCH!! Continuing my running regimen this morning, I didn't even make it around one lap, when I tripped and flew and smashed my hand, elbow and right knee into the ground.

So I am sitting here now, aching, although the pain is subsiding somewhat, with a bloody right knee, a lovely (!) scraped left elbow and 2 punctures in my left palm. Can't figure out how those came to be. My dogs were amazingly nice when I fell. They both ran up to me, sniffed, and sat down next to me. So I gathered them up and limped my way home, to wash my wounds and sit a bit.

Anyways, I have made it up to the 1km, non-stop mark. About a week ago, I calculated how many times around the sport yard at the school would constitute a km (7.8)...by counting the number of tiles along the perimeter and multiplying by 45 cm. Being level, it is easy to run. I brought with two markers, put them in opposite corners, and get Bardot to run back and forth by dropping a treat into each one as I pass it. So, I do the circumference, and she does, more or less, the diagonals.

Anyways, my aerobic capability is definately improving, and I feel a nice tightness in my butt and thighs....

My K. Shmona guest has gone to dogsit at a friend's up near Netanya, and will be back Sat. night, war continuing, that is.

Sunday and Monday I spent some hours with A helping different stages or her move. On Sunday, dd came with, we stopped off at the clinic in rehovot and packed 17 cat cages into the car, so she will be able to transport her cats. Then we drove hither and thither, searching for a pump sprayer, flats (to use as flooring for the dogs), visiting the new site, where "Ahmed" and his crew were putting up fencing, delivering to them some fence posts from her present place, etc.

Monday, I got to her place around 4ish, where a friend with a flat-bed was loading up some of her fencing, boxes, furniture, etc. I also met Rhonda there, so we could exchange books (the library was getting nasty about my overdue one!) and she saw the places. A couple of runs between places, and then at the end I was drafted to take Ahmed and his family of 3 sons back to Ramleh. I can't say I was ecstatic about this: driving 4 arabs in my car. However, I did get home safe and sound, even though I managed (again) to get lost in Ramleh and had to take the long way home...missing my turnoff in the process.

Yesterday was a lazy day in the am. I ended up taking a nap around 2, and was pleasantly surprised upon my awakening by seening the no. 1 son, who shall be renamed, "Cereal Killer," was home for an overnight.

The shirt we brought him from holland...it is SOOO appropriate, this guy lives on cereal morning, noon and night!
(make sure to hover over the picture to see the blurb!)

In celebration of this unexpected pleasure, we went out to dinner to an Italian-type place, dh, ds, dd and I. I had a nice lasagna of grilled vegies which was lovely. For some reason, the establisment ended our meal with complementary margaritas!
We got four...."one each for the 3 adults, and one extra" (obviously, since dd is under 18!) Dh used his to rinse his aching mouth (he had 3 implants done last Thursday!), dS didn't like his, so only had a sip, and I proceeded to finish off the rest (2 and a half, if your doing the calculations).

I managed to walk to the car in a straight line, but, needless to say, I came home zonked and couldn't even watch Seinfeld. But I DID fall asleep straight away!

Today I have to make, hopefully, my final trip to the "Minhal" in Tel Aviv and finish up all this stuff about getting the permits for the building changes we did when we built 7 years ago. Sigh.

PS...still haven't found a home for dear little Shadow....
