Senecio "New Look"

03 June 2008 at 8:22 a.m.

I have a sore throat and earache this morning, and have informed the parents of my student today to warn him that I may not show up to class. I MUST go to my afternoon class (7 children, and we are supposed to be "rehearsing" for the final party!) But I may skip the morning one, especially since I can "make it up" on a Sunday (but not next one, since it is Shavuot).

I spent some time yesterday working in the garden. It had been so neglected, but having bought some plants at a wonderful nursery, that I had the opportunity of being near, because I went to pick up some "free" exercise equipment, that I will actually not use, (boy is this turning into a tooooo-long sentence!) I decided to use my "free" Monday, after having first spent too much time on a certain "dumb" game, but defeating the ultimate villian, and ascending for the third time, to finally see to getting the watering system set up, after it had become messed up, after we built a small deck area attached to the concrete patio. (Yay!!! A full stop!)

One of the plants I bought is an absolutely new variety of "Dusty Miller," with large leaves. It looks like this:
Senecio New Look. I also stocked up on some gazanias, portulacas, a salvia with purple flowers, a daisy with pink (!) flowers, and some herbs. So I got the herbs planted, and began fixing up the irrigation system. It is useable now. I also did a bit of edge trimming with my new scissors, and I need to get ds to fill up some of the holes in the lawn that the dogs have made. Sheesh.

My knee is still troubling me. Amazingly, it is a bit better this morning after all the work in the garden. Have I hit on something here?

I am getting totally exasperated by Ms. 14-year-old's antics. I realize the pattern...no matter what I tell her, she does the opposite. The new thing is that she falls asleep virtually EVERY night in her jeans. Repeated admonishments just don't work. Suggestions to her that at a certain time (9 pm, 10 pm) she change into casual sleeping attire, don't move her. I may have to resort to confiscating her jeans. Also, she is continuously "forgetting" to put in her biteplate, and the orthodontist has warned us that her teeth are drifting back! So I put up a sign on her door...is it helping? NOOOOOOOOOO!

On the other hand, Saturday we spent a lovely afternoon walking around the north port area of Tel Aviv with older daughter and her bf. We snacked at "Max Brenner's" and I had a lovely cocktail that looks like this:

Well, I tried to upload it from my phone, but can't figure out how to do it...i will try again later when ds is around and can remind me what to do. Sigh....
