After the beach!

05 July 2008 at 1:02 p.m.

Just after a shower. Refreshing! I took the dogs to the beach this morning, to meet with my doctor-friend/student. We had a grand walk on the beach, and the dogs, although I showered them down with the hose before we came into the house, are leaving piles of sand all over. Oh well.....I will get the vacuum working later.

No matter how much I am trying to perfect my house, it still looks a wreck today. Later on I will try to do "10 min per room" upstairs and get it slightly more organized. DD24 and her bf are supposed to come over today (when??) and I suppose I should make/bake something. Maybe I will make bran muffins. My mom might enjoy them.

Yesterday morning we were up bright and early to drive out to Jerusalem for a friend's son's bar mitzva at the Kotel. The drive to Jerusalem was easy enough, but finding parking was a pain in the a**. When we got to the women's section of the Kotel, I wasn't sure if I would recognize Harvey's wife (I only met her briefly, 9 years ago), but sure enough, using my excellent deductive skills, I deduced that the elegantly clad women (white suit, white hat, impecable makeup) standing up on the plastic chairs to look over the mechiza (barrier) into the men's side was obviously the mother of some bar-mitzvah boy, not to mention that one of the young girls near her looked remarkably like Harvey. I asked the woman if, perchance, her name was "Maggie", and sure enough, I was correct!!!

Later we had breakfast at the "Between the Arches" restaurant, for which, I understood, they had to book a year in advance. The meal wasn't really memorable, but the occasion was!

We got back to our car just at the moment when the parking meter got to 0.00 minutes left! (It will go down to -0.05.) When we got back to Rishon I was so tired, I ended up "napping" for about 4 hours (my mom had woken me up at 3am the night before, too, with a bad sore throat!) I had NO time to do anything about dinner, and sped off to agility with Honey. So on the way back I bought Chinese again. This may well be the way of things to come. Easy solution to Friday night dinner!!!

Of course, with a 4-hour nap, I wasn't ready for bed at midnight, so I stayed up and finally got going on a translation I had promised to do for the agility club.

OK...so now I am off to do 10 minutes a room upstairs, and then, either bake bran muffins, or take a nap...I will decide later!
