We had a nice evening. I managed to get my "pulkas" cooked the day before, and so i was totally not stressed out today, so that was great....my Flylady Skype Chat has really helped me get my head together.
The menu was: appetizers of traditional stuff, like honey, apples, challah, tzimmes, pomegranates, etc.;
I skipped a first course and made my delicious cream of vegie soup; then we had chicken drumsticks that had been marinated (for 2 days) in a soy-honey-garlic-lemon mix; along with my famous mashed potatoes; and green beans with sesame and just a splash of balsamic vinegar.
I started off by giving gifts to everyone. A few days ago I went into a store, intending to buy myself something new for the holiday...and ended up buying a little something for all my loved ones instead. I got Oded a flowery, black-and-white short-sleeved shirt, that looks like a t-shirt over a cotton shirt. I got my mom something similar, but not flowery, and more flowing (not cotton), with some sparkly applique. For moshe, I got a "fashionable" long-sleeved shirt, with a very pale design on the back, so that it is barely noticeable; and for Odelia I got a nice pair of black pants with a white flower design on the tush. I think they were actually all pleased with their gifts. I decided to give these out tonight, since I also bought gifts for Ofra (a lovely sweatshirt-jacket, lined with fake fur) and Dor (a short-sleeved "elegant" shirt), but didn't get things for Sister and her family, and I didn't want to be handing out gifts to everyone but them, so I decided this way, I will only be giving gifts to Ofra and Dor and it won't look so bad for my sister....
My new washing machine arrived today. So far, I have done three loads (two 45-min loads of blues, and one regular load of regular). There is a load of towels waiting for me to push the button tomorrow.
After spending 2.5K on the machine, the installation guy tried to part me with another 1800+ of my money as follows: a magnetic scale reducer device (250sh), a special "stand" for the w/m to lift it off the ground and any moisture, and to reduce vibration and noise (250sh), a surge protector (210sh), a "special" on six-yr-warranty extension (1200sh)...
I said NAY to them all, but did pay 149sh to extend my warranty for an extra 2 years. I won't tell dh, but if i need a repairman within those extra two years, I will say "aha!"
I washed my floors nice and shiny, and helped my mom dye her hair, and did shopping in the morning, and wasted some time at night watching Aladdin, and playing backgammon, literati, and spider...and that was my day.
