First thing that pops into my mind: Oh my! What do I wear? (It's "smart casual," by the way.)
When i look in the mirror, i see a short, dumpy middle-aged person. Can that be me? I can really say I identify with Jane although I am not tall and skinny, and I don't smoke. Well, I have never been much of a dresser, but I am getting rather REALLY disgusted with my shapeless fashions.
And then, on Sunday I met my dear daughter for coffee (it was her birthday) and we headed to Deizengof center (I wanted to buy her a knitting book for her b-day) and I ended up buying for myself a thing called "The Little Black Book of Style." (115 shekels!)
So, today I have taken "Step 1" - editing your closet. I did some homework on the internet and "discovered" what short, pear-shaped (bigger in the butt than in the boobs) 50-year-olds should and should not wear at at this site , copied it into a word document, and printed it out. I have started trying on everything in my closet. I have chucked some things, set some things aside for altering and also discovered that I DO have a few nice pieces. I have made a list of "necessary purchases" to accessorize them.
Do you know that I do not own even ONE pair of nice, heeled pumps? That is a must on the Style-Guide's list. So tomorrow I am going shoe shopping. Also would like to get some nice cropped jackets. And a NICE pair of jeans that fit me well.
If Jane can look like this (!) , I hope I can make a bit of a change too. I'd take photos, but dd (the other one) has run off with my camera to Poland and won't be back for 8 days.
Other than that, also saw "Julie & Julia" (with dd the older) and thus today's edition to this blog!
Off to try on a few more dresses and then I need a BREAK from modeling!
