New Me - Day 2, the Aftermath

14 October 2009 at 10:18 p.m.

Showered and made up, i left the house wearing jeans, a nice navy sleeveless T, and a white lace shrug. I even accessorized with a chunky beaded necklace and bangle bracelets.

My main mission was to find myself a pair of black pumps with high(ish) heels. According to the Little Black Book, the basics include the following items: black stilleto pumps, plus a pair of ballet flats for the few times when heels won't do (in an airport, when driving, and at the beach); a trench coat; a little black dress; a "wow" handbag; a cashmere sweater; and the other stuff I can't remember now.

I decided to head to the Kanyon Hazahav, where they have lots of shoe stores concentrated on one floor. I can honestly say that I tried on every pair of black pumps (no ankle strap) they had, ranging from 140 sh to 500. To make a long story short...nothing fit well. I did end up with a nice, REALLY comfortable pair of ballet flats. These were really cheap (79). While waiting for my change, my eyes landed on a really cute bag. It was white with patch pockets of green, pink and purple ostrich. Really cute, and this could be a really lovely "wow" bag. OK, so I look closer and see it has the Marc of Marc Jacobs logo and a price tag of $1200, but it is only 200 shekels.

Well, what can i say. It was either a nicely forged mj, down to the price tag, or it had fallen off a truck. The fact that there is no fabric label inside saying whether it is leather or synthetic, makes me sure it is a knock-off. Even if it is from an old collection I doubt that an authentic marc jacobs would legally go for 50 bucks. I bought it, anyways.

When I came home, I decided to play a trick on dh, and I added another zero to the 200 shekels. I mean, $1200 marked down to 2000 shekels is still a bargain, right? ($1200 is about 4500 shekels.) I wanted to see m's reaction. Well, maybe he didn't notice (he's not the most observant person in the world), but he didn't say a word about it.

OK..well, I had the flats, and the WOW! bag. No black pumps.

Now I wanted to get some tops to go with the pants I have that are suitable for my "smart casual" affair tomorrow. I ended up buying two that abide by the rules I had for short dumpy fraus: verticle center detailing; slightly puffy shoulders. One is in a gun-metal silver colour; the other is black and white print with black ruffles. I also bought two short jackets -- one white, one black -- that were a steal at 50 sh each, and two belts at 15 a pop.

While there, I stopped in at Beauty Care and spent 100 shekels on makeup, powder, blush, one liquid eyeliner, 3 nailpolishes, cutical oil, two lipsticks, nail polish remover, nail polish thinner, stickers to do a French manicure, and two scent diffusers in lemon grass scent.

I was told by dh this morning to take lots of money and not look at price tags. Well, I can't really NOT look at price tags, but I think I did a pretty good job of not buying just "the cheapest"..which is my usual way of shopping. I kind of felt like Pretty Woman on THAT buying spree, except I was missing someone to give me the thumbs up or down. I am not happy relying on my own opinion.

Other sundry news from today: while trimming some overhead vines, something fell into my eye and bothered me all day. Tonight there was a little piece of stone at the corner of my eye, hope that was it.
Pepper got out of the yard when an idiot left the gate open. Grrrrr. He was probably gone for about 45 min. when we noticed. Oded and I drove around for another 45 min looking for him, but at the end he scullied back on his own. Bad Pepper!

Shopping is very tiring and now I need to sleep. Goodnight.
