I ended up wearing some wide-leg pants in dark grey with beige pinstripes, which I bought in Castro about 5 years ago. With this, I wore the ruffled shirt (short-sleeved), in a shiny dark grey (I would call the color "hematite." I ironed the neckline open so it would be a v-neck instead of a mandarin-style. The shoes were some really nice, good quality leather and patent pumps I bought that morning (99 shekels, last pair on the shelf).
Since the shirt was so ruffly, I wore a simple hematite necklace and some dangly silver earrings. I carried a silver-colored clutch.
OK. So I passed the dress code. I WAS appropriately dressed, but then, when I think about it...who really cares? If I had worn flat sandals would the sky have come tumbling down? I doubt it.
The affair itself was really nice. There were drinks, both hard and soft, and servers walking around with trays of canapes. Vegetarians wouldn't have been happy, but I'm not, and I was.
There were the usual speeches, tributes and whatnot, and some nice vocal entertainment. I had fun mingling with people and felt good!
Friday, I was back into my tricot pants to clean, shop, etc. It's hard to keep up this "style" thing.
I still have a pile of pants to try on and "edit." Three of those, already, are just a mite tight...I can do up the button, but not the zipper. I'm keeping them, and I've started doing 250 crunches a day. I started this on Friday, and I ALREADY feel a new "stiffness" in my tummy. So, I'm not tossing those pants yet. But...there ARE others.
